Maine Wildlife: This web page is part of Maine.gov Kid's Page.  Look at the bottom of the page and you will see links to other topics students can use to explore info. about Maine.  The "Photos" section provides a wonderful example of a project elementary students could do... Have students collect old photos from your own community (old photos of lobster fishing, historic landmarks, etc.) or take pictures (local wildlife, flowers, etc.) and build them into a photo-journal or gallery.

Merrymeeting Bay
Friends of Sunkhaze Meadows

Both sites above offers other nice examples of projects students might construct... Come up with topics or issues that students might create information about to increase awareness and understanding of our local area.  This would be a great year-long project. I really like the idea of a contest that encourages others to take part in the project (Sunkhaze).

See me if you are interested in support putting together such a project!
